European Shared Load
A part/shared load service is a cost effective way to move your goods to and from your destination. The reason this service is so cost effective is that you share the vehicle with other consignments and therefore the vehicle costs are also shared. All consignments are individually prepared, numbered, labelled and inventoried to ensure all items are correctly delivered to you. The main advantage of a part load service is that you will receive the Matthew James service of excellence at the most cost effective price.
European Dedicated Service
A dedicated service gives you the flexibility to choose your collection and delivery dates. This service guarantees the Matthew James service of excellence and peace of mind that your moving dates can be fixed, allowing you the convenience to make travel arrangements and plan your arrival. All delivery dates are subject to EU laws on driving time. We can confirm the timing prior to any booking.
European Premium Service
A direct service combines Matthew James’ service of excellence with the added advantage of a dedicated collection date and express delivery timescale. Handling of your effects is minimised as they remain on the same vehicle throughout. Although your delivery will be carried out in conjunction with other clients consignments, this means you will share the cost of the vehicle and your consignment will be prioritised for onward delivery typically within 7-10 days of collection.

Mijas has become known as one of the jewels of the Costa del Sol, and it doesn’t take a stretch of the imagination to see why. Nestled in the mountainside, the city has been drawing expats for years. There is such a strong community there that there is even a Foreigner’s Department in the town hall. This is a stunning town with white-washed buildings and a fantastic, all year round climate.
This is a region that revolves around tourism. So even though work is seasonal, the strong expat community keeps businesses afloat. As such, there isn’t a big pressure for you to know a great deal of Spanish to get buy, unless you are looking to open a business, then some understanding of the language will be helpful. Marbella and Fuengirola are the places to go to look for work outside of the town where there are plenty of Facebook groups, recruitment agencies and forums for non-Spanish speaking job seekers. And as always, English teaching is a great alternative whilst you are on the hunt for a more long-term job.

Reasons to relocate to Mijas
There isn’t a lot when it comes to public transport, because Mijas is relatively small and so doesn’t require an underground system etc. There is a bus service that can take you across the Costa del Sol. Most people prefer to traverse Mijas on foot, especially because this give you the opportunity to take in the architecture and get lost in the meandering streets. If you are staying a little further out the town, then buying/renting are car is advised. Malaga airport is the closest airport to Mijas, just 25 km (30 minutes) away. La Cala de Mijas is the closest train station to the town, and can get you across Malaga province in no time at all.
There are plenty of brand new apartments in serviced buildings, and gated communities for you to choose from. Mijas Pueblo provides spectacular views and has a great village feeling. Las Lagunas has a heavy Spanish community, and Mijas Costa is a thriving beach community near the town. There are also smaller villages nearby like La Cala, Coin, or Alhaurin el Grande if you are looking for quieter, less expat heavy options. Saint Anthony’s College is an established, high standard international school less that 10 km from Mijas, and there are loads in neighbouring cities.
Mijas is full of things to do, anything from chocolate making experiences to private walking tours of the town. La Cala de Mijas is one of the best costal parts of Mijas, and is a charming way to enjoy the sun next to the sea. Check out the local history at the Museo Histórico Etnológico, or go to the fairytale Castillo de Colomares, which was built in the 1980s as a monument to the explorer Christopher Columbus. Take a trip to Fuengirola to enjoy the large offer of water sports in its marina, where relaxing floats, or thrill-inducing speed boats can be hired.
